Memorial Day!!!

What a day!!!

What a day !! You can't ask for anything better than to hang out with your best friends, eat some great food, and soak in plenty of sun!!!

We started our day off by going over to Rick's parents for a good ole Cajun Shrimp Boil. The company was great, (I have a new adopted family!!) and the food was AMAZING!! The kids had a great time in and out of the pool, while Kendra and I enjoyed soaking up the sun.

It was apparent that Steve and Rick felt the same love as well--Ya'll are so Metro (PCS)!!!

(Sorry Rick, I had to post this, ya'll are just so darn cute!)

Have you ever seen 2 people so alike? It is really scary, but I love these guys!

Once we were done at the Cox's, we headed home for a nap for Beau and then to my grandads for MORE swimming and food. The $2.00 water soaker gun from Target was a great find today!

I got a little too much sun today--as of right now, my skin is burning hot and I am bundled up in a flannel robe. Why do we do this to ourselves?? This will all be a golden tan in a matter of a couple of days.

This is Gruncle (my uncle, my kids great uncle and he has been known as Gruncle ever since Aubrey came around--I think it is cute!!). Bobby is in the middle, my cousin, and then Beau. Beau thought Bobby was so cool because he would play football with him.

It was a perfect day. Plenty of friends, food and just the right amount of family--LOL (some of you understand me here!! HEHE). The kids were fast asleep as soon as thier heads hit the pillows so you know there was much success in the days events.

I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day, we sure did!

Mother's Day!!!

We had a wonderful mother's day. Normally we go to the zoo, which is something we have done on Mother's day since I was pregnant with Aubrey. Well, the rest of the world has figured out that this is a great time to go to the zoo as well, and has become horribly crowded.

This year we decided to do something different. We (my mom and I) made a great picnic lunch and went to Joe Pool lake for a nice lunch and just relax. Dad brought the fishing poles and everyone had a gret time fishing and even catching fish!!!

Wow Steve!! That is such a HUGE fish! LOL

She was not a happy camper with the whole fishing thing--

Just kicked back chillin!

Anna loved the fishing experience. She just sat there quiet and just waited...

Which paid off very well!! She caught 5 fish--the most out of everyone!

Ashton would have rathered I not take a picture of this fish--LOL

Beau helped Pop catch a fish and held it (this was before the fish fell to the ground and began flopping around which Beau thought was hillarious.)

Dad, we are so proud of you!

Thank goodness!!! She finally caught a fish--but note: she still does NOT like the fishing experience.

World Record Shaver!!!

So as I am entering into the world of my oldest daughter "growing up", it has brought up many topics in our household. Lots of questions, lots of worries, and lots of "ugghhh".

So last night the topic of shaving came up at the dinner table. Out of the mouth of my 7 year old I hear "Well I shave my arms and legs". It took a moment for those words to register in my head and I shot my head up and said "WHAT?" and she repeated, "I shave my arms and legs". So I have her come to me to take a look at the masterpiece of her handy work--and the child has been shaving her arms and her legs, and doing a great job at it!! So when I asked her why she told me because Sissy (Aubrey) told her she was hairy. She has been shaving for a few weeks now, and I had no idea, but this is so Anna! I later explained to her that shaving her arms (and yes I mean arms, not arm pits) needed to stop, this would only cause the hair on her arms to grow thicker and faster. I mentioned to her that she may want to stop shaving her legs as well and let the hair grow back. The response I got..."Eww gross mom--".

Anna is the type of person that when she sees a problem, she is going to figure out how to take care of it and just handle it, alone. She never asks for help, which has always driven me nuts. Most of the time, I find out after the fact when she has done something, because to her--she had a problem, she figured it out and handled it.

So, at the ripe young age of 7, my child shaves her legs--but only to the knee she explains!!!

Oh, you ask how she got a hold of a razor?? Well, her sister has a razor in the shower. They both take showers now, and separately of course. Now I know what she has been doing when she takes these long baths and showers!! My sweet little angel has become so vain in her early 7th year! This can only get worse from here I fear!!!

I felt bad for not knowing this little bit of information, but then again-who would think that their 7 year old is shaving!! I have decided to just embrace this decision of hers. The first time she cuts herself I feel that the activity will stop!

Update on Anna!

I apologize that I have not updated you all on Anna's situation (Thanks Jenn for the reminder!)

We went to see the awesome Dr. Gray last week. He is a wonderful orthopedic if you are even in need of one!

After taking some X-rays, her curve is not as bad as we thought. There is only a 5 degree curve. Now she does have scoliosis, but not to the point where we have to DO anything for it. As for the pain-he is not sure why she is experiencing the pain, and she has been very consistant with where the pain is. Dr. Gray check her leg length again, and he has documented that her right leg is about 1/4 inches shorter--although this should not create the pain either. He did notice a difference in her gate as she walks, but the x-rays don't show a huge abnormality. So from here we are doing a bone scan. This is scheduled for June 3. The bone scan will show if her bones are dense anywhere in her back. If the bone scan comes back normal, then Dr. Gray wants us to start therapy. For now--he wants her to do nothing. He also wants her to start wearing a lift, but just a small lift in her shoe--to see if this will help the pain. I feel blessed to be in the hands of such a fine doctor.

He put us back on the every 6 month visit now. She was doing so good there that we only had to come back yearly--but I could tell in his eyes, that there is an underlying reason as to why we have to come back in 6 months. He is one that won't let me worry about it.

So we will see what comes about after the scan. Oh, if the scan comes back to show anything, I know one of the options is to put her in a back brace :(

Thanks for the prayers!!!

Change

Ok, so I haven't posted in a couple of weeks. Honestly, nothing exciting has happened as of lately.
Have you ever sat there and started thinking how much you wish for something to just change? How you wish you could just snap your fingers and make life completely different? I began doing this over the weekend when I got into my "spring cleaning". As I have said before, cleaning is thearapy for me. I was not upset and there was no need for the "therapy cleaning", it just happened, and it got me thinking........There is not much I would change about my life--but there are some issues I would change. There are some circumstances that I would change. I love the people I live with. I love my hubby to pieces (even though our opinions rarely match each other) and I love my kiddos to death--but lately--I need a change. I don't know what that change is. I wouldn't trade my job. I get to work from home which is a true blessing. I wouldn't trade my friends--I love them all. I wouldn't trade my house, I love this house. What is it that needs to change?? I don't know why I do not feel satisfied with life at this moment. I could switch a room around and feel the temporary relief of a change. THAT IS IT!! Change is so temporary. Maybe it is the high you get from the change. The excitment from the change with everything being new. Once change sets in, it becomes the same ole thing as well.
I am one of those types of people that loves to be on the GO. I love to do and be and have a grand ole time doing it. I think lately--I have been stiffled a bit. I haven't been on the GO much. Maybe that is what I need. I think I just answered all problems. WOW--blogging is such a wonderful therapy session!!! Steve and I need to just go and do some adult bonding--outside of the house!!!
Well--the gloomy, cloudy day has shown present in my words today. Hopefully some change will head my way and the sun will shine again!!!
